Alexis Ewing is a rising star in the world of volleyball. She is a 6-foot-4 outside hitter from the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland. Ewing is the daughter of NBA Hall of Fame inductee Patrick Ewing and former Long Beach State volleyball star Cheryl Weaver, the head coach of Alexis’ high school team.
Ewing, in the 2025 class, stands out as one of the top prospects among outside hitters.. She has participated in USA volleyball’s NTDP events.
College Commitment
Ewing recently committed to Penn State women’s volleyball’s 2025 recruiting class. She joined outside hitter Marin Collins, libero Lexi Gin, and middle blocker Gabby Nichols in Penn State’s 2025 class. Collins was the first to pick the Nittany Lions on June 18, 2023.
Ewing and her family visited Penn State’s campus the weekend of August 18-19. They attended the team’s preseason scrimmage against St. John’s at Rec Hall, observing the action after chatting with Penn State’s coaches and players.
Ewing also toured the campus and took photos in her future Penn State uniforms while she was in town. Ewing’s commitment to the Nittany Lions continues a solid start to the program’s 2025 recruiting haul.
And there appears to be room to add more, given the number of upper-level students scheduled to extinguish their eligibility following the 2024 season.
Playing Style
In terms of her playing style, Ewing is known for her powerful spikes and ability to play offensively and defensively. She plays her club volleyball for the VA Juniors.
Ewing’s athletic pedigree and high upside as a prospect make her an impressive addition to Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s staff, which welcomed Penn State great Megan Hodge Easy as an assistant coach before this season.
