You probably remember Misty May-Treanor a volleyball player. Some consider her one of the best players ever. She and her partner Kerri Walsh Jennings have won three Olympic golds, three World Championships, and 112 international events.

Early years
They were born on July 30, 1977, in Los Angeles. Bob and Barbara May, her parents, taught her volleyball as a child. Misty started indoor volleyball at age eight and became quite talented.
She won the 1994 Gatorade National High School Volleyball Player of the Year and numerous other trophies playing volleyball for many clubs and schools. Dad helped Misty play beach volleyball and prepare her moves.
She became a professional beach volleyball player after high school because she loved the independence and enjoyment of sand. Her Long Beach State University volleyball career included indoor and outdoor play.
Her indoor and beach volleyball National Player of the Year titles were the first in NCAA history. She guided the indoor squad to no losses and a national victory 1998.
Rise to Stardom
Missy turned to beach volleyball after graduation and became a pro in 1999. She played with 1996 Olympics veteran Holly McPeak. They placed fifth in Sydney at the 2000 Olympics after winning 15 events.
Misty then teamed with beach volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings. They worked well together and rose quickly. Their 2001 win was their first. In 2003–2004, they won 90 games and 15 titles.
The 2004 Olympics in Athens gave American women beach volleyball gold for the first time. After winning all their matches, they defeated Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede’s Brazilian team in the final.
They lost no sets at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and won gold again. They defeated China’s Tian Jia and Wang Jie in the final in front of 12,000 angry fans.
Misty and Kerri won their third straight gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012, a team sport record. They defeated American Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in the final. They won more medals than any other beach volleyball team or Olympic couple.
Misty announced her retirement after the match, a fitting finale to her stellar career.
